Japanese Head Spa
There's a reason the Japanese Head Spa has become one of the most requested treatments at Earth Skin Studio. Think of it as a facial, but for your scalp. This luxurious scalp and hair wellness ritual is designed to restore balance, ease tension, and support real scalp health, combining deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, therapeutic massage, and nourishing treatment into one deeply restorative experience.
At its core, a head spa treatment helps clear away the buildup, oil, and impurities that accumulate on the scalp over time, while improving circulation and creating the ideal foundation for healthier hair. Beyond the physical benefits, it's the stillness of the experience that our Lacombe clients keep coming back for, that rare permission to slow down, breathe, and simply be cared for.
What to expect during your visit
Every head spa session at our studio is customized to your unique scalp and hair needs, but you can expect your time with us to move through a few key stages:
A thorough scalp consultation and assessment
Deep cleansing to lift away oil and buildup
Gentle scalp exfoliation
Relaxing scalp massage to encourage circulation
A customized scalp and hair treatment suited to what your scalp needs that day
From there, we move into shampoo and conditioning, water therapy and scalp stimulation techniques
If it's added on apart of your service, a finishing blow dry and style.
It's a full sensory ritual, designed to support scalp health and total relaxation in equal measure.

FAQs
Does It Support Hair Growth?
We'll always be honest with you: a Japanese Head Spa isn't a guaranteed hair growth treatment, and we won't promise it as one. What it does offer is a healthier environment for your hair to thrive in. Through deep cleansing and stimulating massage, circulation to the scalp is encouraged, helping deliver nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles. Over time, consistent scalp care may support stronger, healthier-looking hair as a natural result of a well-tended scalp.

Can a head spa help scalp health?
2
Absolutely. A healthy scalp is the foundation everything else is built on. Over time, oil, dead skin cells, product residue, and everyday environmental impurities settle into the scalp, often leading to dryness, flaking, itchiness, or irritation. Our scalp treatments are built to clear that buildup gently and thoroughly, helping hydrate, minimize itchiness and irritations, reduce dryness and flaking, balance excess oil production, and just support your scalp's natural wellness. Most of our clients notice an immediate difference, with their scalp feeling cleaner, lighter, and more comfortable from the very first treatment. If you add on our scalp scan, you can actually see the difference for yourself at a microscopic level.
Is the Japanese Head Spa suitable for all hair types?
3
This treatment is designed to work for everyone. Thick, long, textured, curly, or coily, every hair type and density is welcome here, and our providers will adjust products, techniques, and timing to make sure your scalp and hair get the full benefit of the experience. For clients with curly or coily hair specifically, we focus on scalp health first, choosing products and movements that respect and support your natural curl pattern, so you leave with a refreshed scalp and your hair's integrity fully intact.
Can I get a Japanese Head Spa with hair extensions?
4
If you're currently wearing hair extensions, we're unable to perform a Japanese Head Spa treatment. Several of our massage techniques and products can affect the integrity of extensions, so we kindly ask clients to wait until extensions are removed before booking.
How Often Should You Book?
Like most things worth doing well, consistency matters here. How often you should book really depends on your scalp's current condition and what you're hoping to achieve.
If you're managing excess oil, product buildup, flaking, or scalp irritation, treatments every 2 to 4 weeks tend to offer the most relief. For routine maintenance, ongoing relaxation, and general support for healthy hair and scalp function, every 4 to 6 weeks is the sweet spot for most of our clients. And if your scalp is already healthy with minimal concerns, treating yourself every 6 to 8 weeks is plenty to maintain that balance.
We always say: treat your scalp the way you'd treat your skin. Just as regular facials help maintain a healthy complexion, regular head spa treatments help your scalp, and the hair that grows from it, stay genuinely well cared for.
